Relationship Companion™ Crisis & Safety Disclaimer
Effective date: July 25, 2026
The Relationship Companion™ is an educational relationship-wellness tool. It is not therapy, crisis care, emergency services, or a substitute for professional support.
This tool is not monitored in real time
No person is continuously monitoring what you write in the Relationship Companion.
Do not use the Companion to request emergency assistance or assume that someone from Symmetricly will see your response and contact you.
The Companion cannot dispatch emergency services or intervene in an emergency.
About safety alerts
The Relationship Companion uses automated safety features designed to recognize some language that may indicate:
-
thoughts of suicide or self-harm;
-
violence, threats, fear, or coercive control involving a partner;
-
sexual assault or sexual coercion;
-
possible harm to another person; or
-
possible immediate danger.
If certain language is detected, the Companion may pause your experience and show support or safety resources.
These alerts are not a professional safety assessment.
Automated detection can make mistakes. It may miss a safety concern or show a safety message when one is not needed.
Not receiving a safety alert does not mean the Companion has determined that you are safe.
If you need help now
If you believe you or someone else may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services when you can do so safely.
In the United States, call 911 for an immediate emergency.
The Companion may also provide crisis, domestic violence, sexual assault, or other support resources based on the concern detected and available resources for your location.
You choose whether to contact a resource. The Relationship Companion does not automatically call, text, email, or notify these services or anyone else because of something you write.
If someone may be monitoring your device
Someone with access to your phone, computer, browser, accounts, or internet activity may be able to see your activity.
For certain safety concerns, the Companion may provide a Quick Exit option to help you leave the sensitive screen quickly.
Quick Exit does not erase your browsing history, device activity, network activity, or other evidence of your visit.
Consider using a device you believe is more private if you are concerned that someone is monitoring your activity.
Remember
The Relationship Companion can provide education, reflection, and access to support information. It cannot determine whether you are safe, determine whether another person is dangerous, diagnose abuse, or make relationship or safety decisions for you.
When you are concerned about your safety or someone else’s safety, human support matters.
